In Bible times a cubit was measured by the distance between a mans elbow and finger tip, with that said if I was to build Noah’s ark it would be 425 feet long 70.83 feet wide and 42.5 feet high which would contain 1,279,366.8 square feet, which would be enough area to hold everything Noah would need.

In Gen 6:16 we see it had three different levels. One for food storage and two for Noah and the animals.

In Gen 6:20-30 we see every animal was a vegetarian and also God said every kind of animal, not every species also not every animal would have to eat.

Think about it, the ark was built only to float not to sail anywhere. It was built to hold cargo, not to be a pleasure ship. If you think it was too big to survive and stay together, check out Chinese wooden ships they were bigger than the ark.

The ark might have had what is called a moon pool which is a hole in the bottom of the ship with walls in it so the ship would be able to bend and also it worked as a pump to bring in good air and take out the bad .

Noah would have also had dredge stones tied around the ark. These stones turn a ship into the waves so waves wouldn’t broad side a ship.

Wonder how all the animals fit?

Well He probably took babies so they would live long after the flood to rebuild the Earth.

God said kinds not species. Today in 2010 there are only about 9,000 kinds of animals.

They didn’t eat meat so they didn’t kill each other for food.

In Gen 7:15 God said only those with the breath of life , so no fish or insects.

The flood waters were 255 feet deep by my cubit. Noah was in the ark only one year and ten days.

The world changed after the flood. I believe that the Moutains were formed during the flood. Man now dies quicker since the canopy above the Earth is gone. Now some animals can eat meat Gen 9:2-3

Ever notice the rainbow points toward Heaven not the Earth the bow is a weapon and it reminds God He will never destroy the Earth with water again.

Why  did the flood happen?

God had to judge sin. God had to keep man alive so Jesus could be born. God was and is in control at all times.

This is Gods world not mans.  We are just keeping it for Him.
